Awelewa named DG Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State

An experienced journalist and Lawyer, Mr Sina Awelewa has been appointed as the Director-General of the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (BSES) by the State government.

He is a graduate of Mass Communication and Law from the University of Lagos.

He started his career as a journalist with the Guinness Nigeria Plc as the Public Relations Officer and later joined The Punch Newspapers as a features writer. He worked with the defunct Mail Newspaper as a Sub-Editor and The Broadcaster Magazine as Assistant Editor.

In 1989, Awelewa joined the Lagos State Bulk Purchasing Corporations as the Public Relations Manager, a position he held until he left for the United States in 1996.

The prolific writer is also an author and a publisher. He has three books to his credit.

He is a philanthropist who has been involved in various humanitarian activities including  giving scholarships to the needy students, donation of vehicles to individuals and religious organizations through his foundation – Sina Awelewa Foundation – inaugurated in 2001.

The new BSES boss is the founder and the Executive Director of International Group for Awareness on Democracy (IGAD).

He is a member of  many professional and social clubs in Nigeria and abroad, among which are the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary Club International and Ikoyi Club 1938 Lagos.
