ARISE NEWS Correspondent Okoye joins Deutsche Welle

Star Presenter/Producer at ARISE NEWS Amaka Okoye has joined Deutsche Welle as its West Africa correspondent.

She announced her movement in a LinkedIn Post on Tuesday with the post: “I am happy to announce that I have accepted an offer with Deutsche Welle as its correspondent covering West Africa.”

She added to the post:

In her Facebook post titled My last day at Arise News she wrote ” My heart is joyful. I have had a great time. It’s time to move to the next phase. A great way to end the year. See you in 2022″

Her appointment has been greeted with massive congratulatory messages by colleagues who wish her well in her new employment.

Deutsche Welle (DW) is Germany’s international broadcaster that offers insights and analysis of the worldwide issues with regional television lineups in English, German, Spanish and Arabic, and radio and online content available in 30 different languages.

Okoye who recently marked her 35th birthday was a former Producer and Anchor at Plus TV Africa.

She is well known for her coverage of human angle stories, crises and conflicts in volatile areas including North-East Nigeria.

In the introduction to an interview with Media Career, it was stated that “Okoye is not your regular female journalist. She has become known for her ‘dare devil’ and extensive reporting of recent cases of kidnappings in northern parts of the country,”

A former Feature Writer with Chronicle Newspaper, Calabar, Okoye holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Communication from The Catholic University of Eastern Africa.
