African Women in Media launches podcast series

The African Women In Media has launched a new podcast series titled ‘Her Media Diary.’
The podcast series will be interviews with leading women in the media, including journalists, to authors, filmmakers and more.
In the new episode, Emmy-nominated journalist Ruona Meyer, spoke on investigative journalism, how to pitch yourself and your stories, and making use of available platforms.
Her undercover investigation ‘Sweet, Sweet Codeine’ highlighted the plight of young Nigerians addicted to codeine syrup. Less than 24 hours of broadcasting Sweet, Sweet Codeine, the Nigerian government banned the import and manufacture of codeine-based syrup.
“Interviewing Ruona was insightful, fun and real. Her journey is testimony to the consequences of hard work and dedication.,” Dr Yemisi Akinbobola said.
In 2019, Ruona became the first Nigerian journalist to be nominated for an International Emmy Award.
