Advice for media interns by Amnesty Country Director

Nigeria Country Director, Isa Sanusi has advised media student interns on the importance of focusing on professional growth and development rather than solely chasing financial gain.

He gave the advice during an interview after the recent courtesy call to the office of Human Rights Journalists Network (HRJN) along with Governance Project Manager at Amnesty International UK, Bhavika Solanki-Silva.

He warned that the pursuit of money may not always yield the desired results, but by concentrating on developing their journalism skills, students can achieve both professional growth and financial stability.

Sanusi a former journalist with Daily Trust Newspaper and BBC cautioned students interested in investigative journalism to be aware of the potential dangers and risks involved.

According to him, investigative journalists may face threats to their lives and the media organizations they work for  may distance themselves from the journalist and their reports, when problem arises in the course of the investigation.

He stressed the importance of being mindful of these risks and approaching investigative journalism with caution and integrity.

Sanusi was received along with his members by the Executive Director, HRJN, Mr kehinde Adegboyega and two Board of Trustees members, Executive Director, Media Career Development Network, Lekan Otufodunrin and Executive Director, Journalists Against AIDS, Ms Olayide Akanni.
