The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism Day 1 of the three-day conference themed: ‘Masked Not Silenced,’ commences today.
Day 1 of the conference will discuss: ‘Policies, Pandemics and Protests: Tackling the forces that stifle media independence’
Speakers include Simon Kolawole, Founder and CEO of The Cable Newspaper, Tsema Ede-Okoye, Lawyer and Consultant Open Society Initiative For West Africa (OSIWA), Babajide Kolade Otitoju, Controller Current and Public Affairs TVC Communications and Naziru Mikailu Abubakar, Editor -in Chief Daily Trust.

In-depth Media Conference
  The Day 2 of the WSAIR titled in-depth Media Conference holds today.
It is a build-up to the 15th Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting held annually. The theme – Masked not silenced has been carefully chosen to address the effects of COVID-19, the repression of freedom of expression and attacks on the news media in Nigeria and Africa. It also provides a platform for journalists, media professionals and other stakeholders to reflect on the state of the media profession, sustenance of ethics, investigative reporting and related issues in Nigeria, Africa and globally.

Award Presentation Event of #WSAIR.
Eight journalists, Lade Bonuola, founding member and pioneer Associate Editor of The Guardian newspaper, and Femi Falana, a human rights lawyer, will be honoured at the award presentation event of the 15th Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting holding today,

Launch: Mapping Study Of Journalism Education and Training Centres In Sub-Saharan Africa
Wits Journalism & @fojo_int invite journalists to the launch of a new study that maps journalism education & training centres in sub-Saharan Africa.
 
This will also include  a panel discussion on the current state of journalism education in the region
 

 

2020 Media Roundtable and stakeholders forum on journalists’ safety and press freedom limitations in Nigeria 

The International Press Centre (IPC), Lagos-Nigeria will hold a media roundtable to mark the year 2020 edition of the United Nation’s International Day to End Impunity (IDEI) for Crimes Against Journalists.
