Know any female journalist in Nigeria or other countries in Africa breaking barriers to report the news? Then please nominate her for the 2017 Courage in Journalism Award:

The Courage in Journalism Awards honor female journalists who have demonstrated a commitment to press freedom and extraordinary strength of character as they report from countries where threats of intimidation, government oppression, and imprisonment are all too common. Courage in Journalism Awardees put themselves at risk to give us a window into critical global issues. To date, we have honored more than 100 women journalists in 54 countries.

The IWMF Lifetime Achievement Award is given annually as part of the Courage ceremony. Honorees set new standards for women journalists and encourage future generations of reporters to find their own voice.

Nominees for Courage Awards can hail from any country and work in any medium, but must be full-time journalists. Lifetime Achievement Award winners can be working or retired journalists. Make a nomination in English, French, Spanish, or Russian. Submissions for the Courage Award and Lifetime Achievement Award are due by Wednesday, March 15.
